Grant Writing Resources

I am on fire for grant writing right now! There is so much good to be done in our communities, and I love helping nonprofits find funders who can help them make it happen.

As a Santa Barbara parent, teacher, writer, musician, cook, and grateful human, I have volunteered with and received services from at least a dozen compassionate, effective, nonprofits in our community. The relationships I am honored to cultivate with them has connected me with programs and outreach into the mental health and recovery; social services; kinder-to-college education; sustainable food; and other sectors.

Here is a list of grant writing organizations I appreciate and utilize. I trust you will find useful resources throughout:

  • A Santa Barbara local, world-class favorite: the Nonprofit Resource Network.
    • Database of local granting organizations and opportunities
    • Updated content by established grant writing professionals
    • Calendar of “events, job listings, nonprofit news, and more”
  • Education and content-sharing for the nonprofit sector: NonprofitReady.org
    • Over 600 free learning resources, courses, & certificate programs
    • Group learning opportunities to your nonprofit team
    • Downloadable guides for Fundraising, Grant Writing, Leadership, Governance, Accounting and Finance, Operations, Marketing and Communications, Volunteer Engagement, and Program Management.
  • Use language “to include, respect, and empower, explore”: The Conscious Style Guide
    • Written and curated by award-winning editor and writer Karen Yin
    • Topical language guides, newsletter, articles (beware floating advertisements)
    • Yin’s motto: “A ideal conscious language practice is one that creates more ease and calm in your life while maximizing your ability to do good.”

Enjoy! Have one to add? Send suggestions, including how/why you use the resource yourself.
